AI just got a $1.5B reality check šāļø
Anthropic has agreed to a multibillion-dollar settlement with a class of authors over claims that pirated books were used to train Claude. If approved by the court, this could be the first major template for how generative-AI companies pay creators for training data ā and how creators get compensated going forward.
What this means:
ā¢ Licensing isnāt optional anymore ā itās the cost of doing business.
ā¢ Model budgets will shift toward paid collections of data (ācorporaā), provenance tracking, and audit trails.
