It was a big week with OpenAI announcing Sora, which I anticipate to be a real game changer in the video space. Not only does it appear to have amazing character fidelity and ability to generate long, complex videos, but its existence is certain to spur Runway and Pika and Stable Video to come out with some amazing new features in the next few weeks and months. Competition is good for everyone, and as always, what an exciting time to be alive!

💡OpenAI valued at $87 billion and is allowing employees to sell stock in a tender offer.

💡OpenAI announces their video model Sora is in closed beta, coming soon! It really blows away ALL the competition from what I’ve seen so far, generating videos up to 60 seconds in length.

💡AI generated sound effects coming to ElevenLabs soon!

💡Apple is releasing a predictive code writing tool similar to GitHub Copilot, to be released within Xcode, their free coding app. Will the service be free? We shall see, but if it IS, this is extremely compelling.

💡Microsoft, Google and Meta pledge to fight election disinformation. Not sure if I believe Meta after last time.

💡Shocker (sic): AI hiring tools may be filtering out top applicants and practicing discriminatory hiring practices.

💡Record numbers of workers are signing up for courses to reskill in AI, preparing for the future. Awesome!
